Home Sensor touch

Pannello demo QTouch by AtmelSensor touch technology allows replacing traditional, mechanical controls (like pushbuttons and knobs) with elements designed directly on the PBC, with no mechanical parts.

The idea itself is already 40 years old! But during 2010, Atmel introduced Qtouch™ and Qmatrix™ and changed forever the way we design touch devices. Indeed, thanks to QTouch and QMatrix the cost of a touch system has become extremely low. So low, indeed, that it often cheaper than a traditional control.

How does it work? Let technical details apart: we only need to say that controls are directly designed on the PCB. In front of them, we need to put a thin layer of insulant material: glass and plastic, but - why not? - wood, or ceramic. Of course sensors can be back-illuminated and can be developed on flexible PCBs to obtain incredible effects.

M.d.C. Technology, a qualified Atmel partner, can design for you with QTouch and QMatrix bringing you the full extension of advantages:

  • No mechanical parts
  • Functional and aesthetic
  • Reduced production costs
  • Improved resistance to external agents and vandalism
  • Easier cleaning for a better hygiene
  • Reduced maintenance and increased device life
